DeSales University Department of Nursing and Health received approval from the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing to offer a new Master of Science in Nursing option, the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
“The program prepares graduates as collaborative health care providers who provide direct care services to high-acuity, complex adult and older adult patients,” said Carol Gullo Mest, PhD, RN, ANP-BC, director of the master of science in nursing programs at DeSales.
Graduates of the program will be prepared to diagnose and manage acute episodic and chronic illnesses, with an emphasis on health promotion/disease prevention, teaching, and coaching.
Students can complete the program in three years part-time or two years full-time. The program leads to the Master of Science in Nursing degree. For candidates who already have the MSN degree, a post-Master’s certificate option is available. Graduates are eligible for state licensure as a CRNP upon passing the national certification examination.
Applications are being accepted for a Summer 2014 start. Interested applicants may apply on the website www.desales.edu/msn. For more information contact Mest at email@example.com.
