Kiersten Withrow is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing and Health and serves as the Advisor for the Student Nurses Association (SNA). Her clinical expertise includes labor, delivery, and postpartum care.

Her teaching responsibilities include: Fundamentals of Nursing, Health and Physical Assessment, Therapeutic Nursing Interventions, OB clinical, Gero Clinical, and Senior Clinical Internship at the undergraduate level. She has experience teaching nurturing and well-being (wellness), professionalism and leadership, caring, health assessment, maternal/child and community care nursing.  Professor Withrow enjoys teaching in the traditional classroom as well as on-line, in the lab, or in the clinical setting.  In her leisure time, she enjoys being with her family, attending her children’s sporting events, good food, and exploring new places.

She received her B.S. in Health Studies (Anthropology, Biology & Psychology) from Michigan State University, her B.S.N. from Grand View University, her M.S.N. from the University of Phoenix, and she is currently working on her PhD in Nursing at Rush University. She maintains certification in Inpatient Obstetrics. She has been published in Nursing for Women’s Health (formerly Lifelines) and the Journal for Continuing Education in Nursing. Her passion and interests are in Nursing Education, use of Cadaver labs in Nursing, and the experience of recently immigrated Hispanic women having their first child in the U.S.

In addition, Professor Withrow is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the Association of Women’s Health in Obstetric and Neonatal Nursing, the Eastern Nursing Research Society and the American Nurses Association.
