Dennis Razze has been the head of the theatre department and the associate artistic director of The Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival (PSF) for the past 10 years. This year he also celebrates 30 years as a professor at DeSales. Mr. Razze directed last spring’s sold out hit musical, Chicago that was choreographed by Lynne Mariani. Recently he directed PSF’s critically acclaimed production of Oklahoma! In 2012 he directed PSF’s Sweeney Todd and in 2011 South Pacific, both starring Broadway baritone William Michals. In 2010 he directed PSF’s hilarious A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and in 2009 the musical 1776. Some of his other favorite PSF productions are Cyrano de Bergerac starring Greg Wood (for which he also wrote the score), Amadeus with Steve Burns, My Fair Lady with Alan Coates, Man of La Mancha with Chris Coucill, Twelfth Night and The Taming of the Shrew. Mr. Razze has directed more than 60 productions at DeSales; he was awarded certificates of merit from the American College Theatre Festival for his direction of Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma!, and The Music Man. He was the guest director for Lehigh University’s production of The Music Man in 2003. Mr. Razze is also a composer who has created musical scores for The Tempest, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Macbeth, and Act 1’s production of Antigone.
