Effective immediately and in accordance with Pennsylvania Act 153, all new faculty and staff at DeSales University whose position with the University has been determined to potentially have direct contact or routine interaction with individuals under 18 years of age must successfully complete a background check, including a Criminal History Report from the Pennsylvania State Police, a Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services and a fingerprint based criminal history submitted through the FBI as a condition of employment. Location:  Division of Healthcare 

Scope:

The Healthcare Simulation Specialist (HSS) works with the Director of Healthcare Simulation (DHS) to coordinate the daily operation of the Clinical Simulation Education Center (CSEC) including standardized patient laboratories.  The CSEC consists of 5 simulation rooms equipped with high, moderate, and low level fidelity mannequins and a suite of 8 standardized patient rooms.  She/he assists the didactic and clinical faculty in scheduling, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of healthcare simulation offerings.  Functions include clinical simulation learning activities deemed necessary by all didactic and clinical faculty to attain successful achievement of student learning outcomes. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of both inter-professional practice and simulation-based education.
  • Validation of ability to teach effectively to groups of students with a variety of learning styles
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in simulation learning
  • Experience in faculty education mentoring
  • Comprehension of curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Indication of individualism:
    • Conscientiousness and reliability
    • Ability to communicate articulately with others (orally and in writing)
    • Flexibility
    • Creativity
  • Verification of continuous professional development through activities such as, but not limited to:
    • Continuing education
    • Membership in professional organizations
    • Research
    • Publication
  • Ability to adhere to academic and administrative protocols
  • Must be available to work days, evenings, and weekends, as required
