In a favorable review on the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival's "The Imaginary Invalid" by Diana Morse, she states that the adaptation adds bits of contemporary humor without compromising the original play. Referring to the talented actors, Morse states that "a superb ensemble makes a good play great, and this cast will convince you that laughter truly is the best medicine." Morse describes the play as a cartoon coming to life, complete with super sized characters, enema bags and oversized syringes flying through the air. She praises the set design, lighting and costumes.
